The Greedy Cave 2 is a roguelike with a few online features, where players can embark on an epic adventure set in the dark fantasy world of Basatan. Your goal, as good adventurers, is to go through the Door of Time and into a mysterious dungeon full of monsters and treasures, which is procedurally generated each time you cross its threshold.
The Greedy Cave 2's gameplay is well adapted to touchscreen devices: by tapping on a square in the setting, you can move to it. If there is an enemy in the square you want to move to, moving there will start a fight; while if there is treasure, you'll take it. Unlike in other roguelikes, enemies won't move around the setting at the same time as you but will remain still in their squares. You'll also be able to see their stats if you long press on them, so part of the difficulty of the game lies in knowing when to start a fight.
While the confrontations against the monsters don't meet the criteria of pure roguelikes, other aspects, such as the random generation of dungeons and loot, do. Each time you go through the Door of Time, you'll encounter a completely new dungeon with different enemies, different traps and, of course, different loot. Thanks to this, no game will be the same as the previous one. Outside the dungeons, you can also visit the village of Basatan, where you can interact with other players online, as well as with several NPCs.
One of the key places in Basatan is, of course, your home. All players have their own home within the village, where they can take a look at all their stats and records, as well as customize their avatar's appearance. At the beginning of the game, you must choose a look for your hero, but as you play, you'll unlock dozens of elements for giving them a unique appearance. Apart from these purely cosmetic options, you'll also be able to unlock permanent aids in your home, which will help you in future games.
The Greedy Cave 2 is a very entertaining game with an accessible gameplay system, beautiful graphics, loads of customization options and a great variety of enemies and dungeons. It's definitely not one of the most challenging roguelikes out there for Android, but this works in its favor since it can serve as a great entry point to a traditionally quite inaccessible genre.
